Conquering the Labyrinth of Life with Coaching

I am guessing that since you have come to this website, you may be a little curious about what coaching is, who it is for, and what I can do for you through a coaching relationship!

Conquering the Labyrinth of Life with CoachingCoaching has been around for a while, but in recent years its popularity has increased.  Coaching is a relationship with a professional in which you are in charge of creating goals and deciding how best to reach them.

Now you may wonder “Why would I need someone to help me do that? I have been setting goals and deciding how to work toward them for years!” Before I had a coach, I had the same question. But then I began to think about whether I had reached the goals I set for myself and in that process realized not only that I had not, but that I had not reached them many times over!

In addition, there were many times when I was unable to even set a goal because the feeling of restless uncertainty was so vague I wasn’t even sure what was going on and didn’t realize a personal change was necessary to rid myself of that persistently uncomfortable feeling that would pervade every area of my life in some way.

I had more than enough ideas about where I wanted to go and how to get there. But I was treading water and getting close to going under when I stumbled upon the process of coaching. Remember when you stumble on something it is because you have not been looking closely at where you are going.

Nothing I was doing was working, so I took a closer look at the process of coaching. I was standing at a fork in the road so to speak. I chose to see what, if any, difference coaching would do for me…surprise, it was just what was needed to move me out of my own chaos and see things differently.

The most surprising part was that I sought coaching to help me with developing my private practice, but what came out of it was incredible transformation in every area of my life. You cannot help but change positively in personal areas of your life when you are working toward professional success. In fact, the personal transformation is the foundation of the professional success.

So the answer to my question then and yours now was that when you have a coach you have:

  • Certainty that you will discover your unique purpose and the unique map to its fulfillment
  • Guidance from a professional that because of training and experience can see through the fog of confusion and fear that becomes an obstacle
  • Accountability to someone that cares about your progress and is not afraid to say the tough stuff gently when you need it…
  • Encouragement that gives you courage (yes, that is the root of the word enCOURAGEment!) to keep moving when the obstacles appear
  • Cheerleading from someone who is a partner in the journey to your transformation and success and is happy about your wins
  • Recognition of your strengths and successes that are meaningful and that ignite your spirit to take the next step
  • Breakthroughs in thinking about your journey that come from a co-active relationship that increases your ability to think creatively, get an idea and then carry it out
